«The original structure of the lamp», says Daniel Michel, «seemed to me to be a little boring: so I started adding strings and round and square plates. It looked like a lunar space ship, said laughing Ingo Maurer, our mentor and visionar still at his age of 82. That comment made me think of the song “Fly me to the moon” by Frank Sinatra…So I said “Let’s call it this way”. But Ingo thought it was too long, and he came up with the shorter FMTTMoon. It still was a little complicated and then there was the idea: T.T. Moon!».
Daniel Michel is the young German designer ho studied and projected the first of the objects you can see down below, and he also designed those wonderful lamps with Mickey Mouse ears. He is one of the sixteen, between designers and architects, of the Ingo Maurier team. And we all know Murier is the designer of lamps such as Gulp and YaYaHo, both exposed at the MoMA. This team has projected enlightening systems everywhere, from Munich underground stations to the giant snowball of the Fifth Avanue in New York.
I met Daniel at Spazio Krizia yesterday, at the opening of Salone del Mobile in Milan. I was struck by the use of the lights he used, leds and wavy bright panels as if they were a net of lights, suspended and lightweight. Objects nice to see but also complitely functional. It’s easy and enjoyng reading under those lights.

Abbreviamo: FMTTMoon. Troppo complicato.
