(Joyce Lussu)

My Eastpak suitcase and a book by Joyce Lussu. “I have always considered being a woman a good thing, an advantage, a joyful and aggressive challenge. Joyce Lussu”. My suitcase contains many things. It says a lot about the person who owns it. And also the way the bag is carried around, is important. If you are tired and fatigued you drag the bag. Or if you are eager to make a new discovery you push the carryall in front of you, with authority and a touch of narcissism. But there are also those who carry the bag at their side like an old friend, quiet, unobtrusive, and then you realize that the life has been already lived .
My suitcase is freePasses from one hand to another, but every so often lingers behind and suddenly recovers with a quick rush forward past me and it shows off.  My suitcase and I like to carry several books. Before each trip and the true experience I go to the Feltrinelli bookstores which is like a great magic castle. This morning I went there before going to Milan. I wanted to find me a story. And I found it. Today is the birthday of Joyce Lussu, poet, historian, but also a great activist and one of the founders of the Union of Italian women. What we learn from the Lussu? That we must believe in change and in the dream, that the impossible can be achieved, that the real revolution, the more complicated it is mainly the one inside us. That the shared memory is a privilege and that the resistance is not an old word on textbooks. Good luck Joyce!

°°°

A me e alla mia valigia piace ospitare libri.
Auguri Joyce !
